- Judicial review. Every warrant is read by a judge, who grants or refuses it with a written reason.
- Probable cause. Officers must set out the grounds for the warrant in writing; that statement is seen only by judges.
- Returns. Officers file a return afterwards recording whether the warrant was carried out.
- Challenges. A warrant can be challenged under the Warrant Appeals rules.
